Kamen Rider Double and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger fansubs ‘killed off’

Today, news has been spreading in both the KR and Sentai Shinkenger community about the cancellation of subbing two currently airing shows in Japan, Kamen Rider Double and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. It’s seriously pisses a lot of people that Toei has started making their aggressive move to take down fansubs. So I guess TV-Nihon fansubs and other well known subs are going to be pulling out from doing these projects.

Here is mail I got from the KR community:

If you have downloaded a subbed episode of Kamen Rider Double from any of the TV-Nihon links in the main page (or in the messages we have sent you) via BitTorrent within the last 1 or 2 days or so, you may have gotten a copyright infringement email in your email inbox. Yes, I know it sounds completely bullshit to you guys, but it is definitely true. You might want to go to TV-Nihon’s main page and forums for more information.

This copyright infringment letter applies to ALL subbed episode downloads of Kamen Rider Double AND Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. In repsonse to this situation, we are stopping our episode download services until further notice. Public Relations & Information officer **** will follow up with you with the rest of the details, and will show you a copy of the letter.

And here is the ‘mail of death’:

Samurai Sentai Shinkenjya – Episode 30

Version: 8.0

It’s seriously sad for me because I love watching high quality subs and now I would have to watch the RAW version on LIVE internet TV, so f**k you Toei I can watch it LIVE and if you decided to cut it off you can go bang the walls and start thinking about how many kids are going to cry. I really hate those ‘cheap pirates’ subs as they give subbing a bad name plus we have to buy them.

  1. These are indeed hard times. I can watch raw and live if I have to, but frankly I’d rather not. Some people began subbing Faiz, what, 7 years ago? And due to that, there’s grown a strong community with a deep love of these shows. If the material is cut off to a harder to access manner, there will simply be a lot more people using alternative methods to watching, and the problem won’t be solved. Why can’t they take a more net-friendly approach and try to make a profit off of it via some video site, which would make it easier?

They either need to find a method that will more effectively obtain their results (people not watching new shows) (unlikely), or re-think what results they want, because at this rate, this won’t be good for Toei OR the fans.
